Hey! We’re Sophie & Christian

Sophie and Krinn

(the co-founders of Polymath)

Polymath imagines a world where the most exciting digital experience is one where kids can learn in a meaningful, expansive, and exciting way. Starting with maths (because the world needs it), we’re creating self-directed, engaging experiences that empower kids to learn on their own terms. Our vision is a future where curiosity drives learning and kids are confident to explore their passions—because they’re worth it.

We started this mission back in 2021 and currently live in the beautiful Aotearoa, New Zealand, with our dog, Martin. With 9 nieces and nephews (aka, “niblings”) education is close to our hearts.

And I’m Pol!
Let me tell you the story of Polymath...

We started by learning how kids learn

Sophie and Christian were living in the UK when the seeds of Polymath were planted. Sophie was working as a part-time nanny while studying developmental psychology – running from lectures on maximising learning to picking up kids at the school gates. It was clear that the way the kids were learning at school did not match up with the research on effective learning.

She applied the principles she had been studying to help the kids convert short-term learnings into long-term memory.

Their confidence – especially in maths – really grew.

Seeing this, Christian suggested technology could make that learning process easier, and more scalable, and so Polymath was born.

Now, we’re rebranding mathematics

Maths has a long-held reputation as something scary, complicated and kind-of useless. Generally, we just don’t like it very much.

But everyone uses maths in their daily lives, whether they want to or not. So it’s important kids are confident in the basics at least.

To tackle this, Polymath isn’t just another learning tool – it’s a game that kids actually love to play. The app makes learning engaging, personalised and genuinely fun. Every feature involves a new and exciting element of gameplay balanced with effective learning methods.

What makes our approach to learning special?

  • Screen time that you can feel good about.

Kids love to play Polymath, which has all of the fun of other popular online games, but keeps learning at its heart.

  • Confidence and enjoyment in learning leads to competence.

By having fun doing maths, kids will become more confident and able to tackle more and more challenges.

  • Polymath is in the classroom AND at home.

Polymath makes learning fun at home but it doesn’t stop there. Polymath goes with kids as they step inside the classroom, keeping them excited about maths while providing a useful tool for teachers.

Sophie

Sophie’s always wanted to make a positive impact and discovered that while there are many causes she cares about, education is where her skills can make the biggest difference. She’s now applying her academic background of psychology and arts into her ambition to change the future of education through Polymath.

KrinnKrinn

Krinn

As a teenager, Krinn gave a TEDx talk on teaching himself to code, launching a coding club, and creating resources to teach others. After working as a software engineer in London, he's now channeling those early passions into helping kids build confidence in maths through fun.

JaredJared

Jared

Jared joined Polymath in 2023 after some long-term courting from his friends Krinn and Sophie. As well as being a talented software engineer Jared has a knack for making complex ideas simple and engaging. He has been making informative and educational videos for over a decade and even runs his own annual film festival.
